The wines of Quinta de Camarate come from a single vineyard, located on the Setubal Peninsula in Azeitão. Quinta de Camarate was acquired by António Soares Franco Jr. in 1914 and is now owned by the brothers António and Domingos Soares Franco, the main owners of José Maria da Fonseca. La Quinta has an area of 110 hectares, 50 of which are covered with vines, planted on limestone and clay soils sheltered by the hills of Arrábida. The rest of the land is grazed by sheep that produce the famous Azeitão cheese.
Surprising combination of Alvarinho and Verdelho. The grapes were grown on the Setubal peninsula just south of Lisboa. The climate is warm and tempered by the proximity of the ocean.
It has aromas of asparagus, fresh grass and white pepper. The palate is very balanced, fresh, with a very present acidity.
The Alvarinho has excellent acids so that the freshness of the wine is optimally preserved. It is a very attractive white wine, perfect as an aperitif or with a meal.
