Soalheiro

In 1982, the Cerdeira family was the first to rejoin the tradition of quality wines based on the local Alvarinho grape. João Antonio Cerdeira planted the first vines to that end in 1974, and it is those old vines that still provide the grapes for the top cuvée 'Primeiras Vinhas' today. Soalheiro grew into a household name.

In the mid-2000s, the dynamic son Luis joined the family project and from then on the estate's reputation rose rapidly.

Although Soalheiro is still a small family estate, with an annual production of 200,000 bottles, there is no quality restaurant in Portugal where the wine is not on the menu. Even in Belgium, many of the best chefs have already paired Soalheiro with their dishes.

The granite soils and cool climate provide the ideal habitat for making gourmet-oriented wines with the Alvarinho.
Besides the classic Alvarinho, the slightly tighter cuvée 'Granit' is particularly popular in Belgium. With small-scale creations such as 'Terramatter' and 'Nature', Luis pushes the boundaries towards wine making with minimal intervention.
