Bruto natural means without dosage: not a drop of sweetness has been added to round off the corners, and that makes this sparkling wine bone dry and straight. Maria Gomes, Bical and Cerceal from Bairrada, the region that has been making sparkling wine longest in Portugal. Without dosage there is nothing to hide, so you taste the acidity and the grape as they are — and that is exactly why it works better at the table than a more sweetly dosed sparkling wine.

Frederico and his father Mario Sergio are the third and fourth generations of the Nuno family who make wine in the north of the Bairrada region. They make wines and espumantes that are very easily recognizable for their distinct character.
