Zig Zag 2023, Atlas Land
Region: Algarve
Producer: atlasland (Filippo Pozzi)
The grapes for these wines come from a vineyard planted in 1990 on a gentle north-facing slope. A field blend of mainly Castelão, Boal Branco and Boal Roxo on sandy soil, 3 Km from the ocean. It shows good concentration without stellar alcohol levels, retaining the typical oceanic freshness of this site.It comes out as light palhete even with the longer maceration, bringing a coastal feel to the glass. Fine structure with a touch of bitterness and aromatics that remember the wild shrubs growing on the coast.

A field blend of Castelão with Boal Branco and Boal Roxo on sand, from a north slope planted in 1990 — red and white mixed in the same vineyard, as it used to be done. Picked over two days in September, part destemmed, part whole-bunch into the open vat, and aged in steel. The result is a wine that changes direction in the glass, which explains the name.
Pan-fried sole with capers
Grilled pork with lemongrass
Serveren op 13–14 °C
We came across Filippo Pozzi before he had even bottled his first wine and then waited patiently for more than 2 years. At last we have the first bottles of his delicious Atlas wines, from old vineyards in the coastal area of the Alentejo and Algarve.
