Luís Seabra wants to see the full potential of Alvarinho, and with him that means: everything in wooden foudre, fermentation and ageing alike, and a wine with so much matter that it can lie for years. Granito refers to the granite soil, and you hear it in the finish as a dry, salty stone. This is Alvarinho without a single concession to easy drinking — full, broad and long, with the oak entirely in the service of the structure. A bottle that gains complexity with every year in bottle.

When Luis Seabra told us in 2012 about his plans to make wine under his own name, we signed up straight away. We had known him for 10 years as a winemaker at Niepoort and knew we could not miss this.
