Po de Poeira branco 2022
Region: Douro
Producer: Jorge Moreira (Poeira)
This makes for a lighter and more accessible wine, but still with the distinct character that Jorge expresses in his wines. Like the top wine, he does not feel the urge to polish the structure too much and gives free rein to the wild, rough nature of the Douro. The location of the vineyard (Terra Feita near Provesende in the Cima Corgo) has been highly regarded for many years.

Waar serveer je ’m bij?
The same north-facing slope as the big Poeira, and that is why this wine works: a northern orientation in the Douro means less sun and therefore more slowly ripening grapes. Fifty per cent Alvarinho and fifty per cent Gouveio, fermented partly in open granite tanks and partly in steel, then some eight months in oak barrels. Granite tanks keep the temperature stable and the oak gives breadth without flavour: weight eight with complexity ten — more to tell than to carry.
Chicken curry with almond and yoghurt
Risotto with grilled courgette and mint
Serveren op 10–12 °C
Jorge Moreira bought a small vineyard in 2001 that no one else was interested in. Against the grain, he made his Poeira there.
