Casal Figueira Vermelho 2020

Marta Soares is one of the best winemakers in Portugal. She is a great enthusiast who had to take over the project of her husband who died a few years ago.
The grapes for this wine come from five small and old vineyards located on the hills north of the Serra de Montejunto, about 50 km above Lisbon and not far from the Atlantic coast.
The soil is mainly limestone. Due to the height of the vineyards, the northern orientation and the proximity to the ocean, the vines benefit from maximum refreshment, which preserves the acids in the grapes and guarantees the basis for a good wine. 
The vineyard is run in biodynamic viticulture and no cultivated yeast is added to start the fermentation.
After the originality of her red Casal Figueira based on Castelão, Marta Soares now offers a very original but delicious blend of Castelão Tinta Miuda. The total production volume is minimal. The quality is excellent. It is a wonderfully fresh and elegant red wine.
