The Bairrada region, where Caves São João is located, has the ideal cool climate to produce excellent Espumantes. The knowledge of a French oenologist from Champagne was called upon, so the quality was right the first time.In the early 1950s, the range was expanded to include wines from the Bairrada and neighbouring Dão. The former are marketed under the 'Frei João' label, while the Dãos are labelled as 'Porta dos Cavaleiros'.This is a soft full-bodied wine with aromas of ripe red fruits and ripened plums.
