Indie Xisto 2020, Luis Seabra
Region: Douro
Producer: Luis Seabra
Luis Seabra went to work with 2 old vineyards in the Cima Corgo, the heart of the Douro, and bottled his best grapes under the name 'CRU', a nod to French tradition but also and above all a reference to his method: Luis makes wine in its purest form with minimal intervention. Choosing vineyards and caring for the vines is the foundation. Then he lets nature do its work. He only adds a small amount of sulphite to, as he says, 'make the wines retain their precision' but there too he aims for the bare minimum. The Indie Xisto is a blend of native varieties made from vines planted in the 1950s grown at high elevation

Waar serveer je ’m bij?
In Alijó, at over five hundred and fifty metres and known mainly for white, Luis Seabra found a vineyard of more than seventy years with everything growing side by side. That unusual origin determines the whole wine: a Douro with the coolness of altitude. Fermented in open vats, twenty-two months in used casks, thirteen and a half degrees. Power eight, complexity eleven — more to say than to carry.
