Waar serveer je ’m bij?
Tobias is the lightest of Alvaro Castro's reds: twelve degrees of alcohol, made to be drunk young and without ceremony. Our files do not yet record the vinification of this cuvée — what we do know is what Castro does everywhere: the cool altitude of the Dão, indigenous grapes, and a hand that would rather extract too little than too much.

“The 2022 Quinta de Saes Tobias Tinto, produced with 70% Touriga Nacional and 30% Jaen, had a classical vinification and aged in well-seasoned, neutral 225-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. It's fruit-driven, juicy and straightforward but serious and with fine-grained tannins, contained ripeness and 13.1% alcohol. It was bottled in October 2024.”
