Muros Antigos Vinho Verde 2025
Region: Vinho Verde
Producer: Anselmo Mendes
Melgaço has always been recognised as one of the best places to produce Alvarinho, but very few quality estates were still active.
Anselmo played an important role in the rebirth of the region and is now recognised as one of Portugal's leading white wine producers.
The Alvarinho grape variety plays the main role here, but Anselmo also values other local varieties such as Loureiro, Avesso and Vinhão. Its wines are distinguished by their freshness and minerality. The granitic soils, the proximity of the ocean and its location in the north of Portugal play a decisive role.
It's been our calling card for 20 years. If one wine sums up perfectly the added value of Portugal, it is this Anselmo Mendes cuvée.
The Loureiro brings a beautiful aromatic intensity to the wine.
The Avesso brings acidity and minerality to the wine.
Alvarinho brings structure to the wine.
Irresistibly delicious thanks to the freshness of the Atlantic.

Waar serveer je ’m bij?
For twenty years the calling card of our house, and that is not marketing but an observation: if one bottle sums up why Portugal is worth the trouble as a wine country, it is this one. Loureiro, Avesso and Alvarinho in steel, without oak, with the Atlantic freshness that makes the region unique. Low in alcohol, high in acidity, and almost irresistible on a warm day. The aim is not complexity but thirst.
Vietnamese spring rolls with fresh herbs
Seaweed salad with sesame and cucumber
Serveren op 8–10 °C
We were there when Anselmo launched his first wines under his own name and we are still following him. Meanwhile, he grew to become 'mister Alvarinho'.
