Why we chose this wine
Rodrigo decided to keep this Touriga from the remarkably fresh (and wet) year 2014 for an extra long time. It is not known to journalists as a top year, but after the necessary aging in the bottle, a number of wines from 2014 turn out to be very refined and often show a lot of character.
We did not hesitate to purchase a very generous amount.

Waar serveer je ’m bij?
Rodrigo Filipe deliberately held this 2014 Touriga back. The year was cool and wet and had no great reputation, but it is exactly those wines that turn out the finest after some years in bottle. Fermented in steel, twelve months in barrel, twelve degrees of alcohol: the Atlantic side of Touriga Nacional, without the power the grape takes on elsewhere.

Rodrigo Filipe was one of the pioneers of natural wine in Portugal and remains one of our personal favourites. On his 9 hectares near Peniche he makes fresh, low-alcohol wines that he only releases after several years of ageing.
