O Abanico Reserva 2021
Region: Dão
Producer: Casa Da Passarella
Literally, Abanico means ‘fan’ and does not refer to one of those summery paper fans to dissipate some heat, but to the chic fans made of expensive fabric from the Victorian period that were status symbols rather than cooling.Casa da Passarella took inspiration from the story of a Spanish noble lady who lived at the Casa long ago and also always flaunted a hand fan. With this, they emphasise the elegance of this wine.
This wine colours deep red, and has aromas of red fruits such as berries with a spicy touch.
It is a full-bodied wine, rich in tannins and has a long finish.

Waar serveer je ’m bij?
Abanico is the fan — not the summer paper kind but the Victorian status object in costly fabric. The wine behaves accordingly: twelve months in barrel, partly new, lay a layer of toast and spice over the dark fruit of Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional. Fourteen degrees of alcohol make it filling without setting the tannin hard.
