Provezende is a very special region in the Douro for white wines. Located at 600 meters of altitude and facing east, it gives rise to fresh, complex white wines full of concentration. Morgadio da Calçada Reserva Branco is a wine that expresses the vineyard, the place, and the region it comes from. Old vines and altitude are key factors for this wine's success, with the challenge being to balance acidity and volume so the result is a fresh wine with great ageing potential.The wine displays a very intense and deep mineral character. It is highly complex on the nose, with excellent toasty barrel notes and fine herbs perfectly integrated into a citrusy and slightly floral profile. On the palate, it shows great presence yet remains fine and delicate, with notes of white fruit and some spice. It is full-bodied without being heavy, showing good concentration and perfectly balanced oak. The finish is very complex, elegant, and slightly salty. A white wine to be best enjoyed in a Burgundy-style glass.
