Vale Meão lies in the middle of a geological fault line. This brings granite to the surface in places (where in the rest of the Douro it remains hidden under a top layer of slate).This makes for very different wines. Francisco Olazabal therefore decided to plant Baga on the granite layer. The result is a very elegant expression of Douro terroir.
